Magic moment

61Terri April 16, 2010 at 8:17 am

She died in April of 2007 at the age of 69. She suffered a few strokes through the years, and died of pneumonia. So it depends on what year this is. I hope this helps.

First time I had a hard time seeing Zola like that. Now I see that the beauty was still there. The Platters were great. zola made them beautiful. after Tony and Zola, they were a tribute group…Sorry.

are you DELLA REESE?

MissDellaReese April 16, 2010 at 8:17 am

He had one o the finest voices to ever grace this Earth, indeed. The group was not the same, and neither was their sound, after he left.

coyoteguy45 April 16, 2010 at 8:17 am

Yeah Zola was a beauty and gave the group real elegance. i don’t know why Tony Williams was “kicked out” but it’s like kicking the pilot out of the cockpit. This singer is really good, but no Tony. He was THE SOUND.

LongIslandEddie April 16, 2010 at 8:17 am

@Peteykkk
With kkk on the end of your name, it’s a wonder that they didn’t kick YOU out instead of Tony Williams!

Last tIme I was with Zola (early 60’s, Skinny D’Matos Club 500 in Atlantic City) along with Lloyd Price and Irma Franklin, she was so young and vibrant. This was after The Platters kicked Tony Williams out. I spent the whole nite in an all nite bar shooting pool with the rest of them. What great memories! I was maybe the only white guy there!

Music of the Platters is magical. It always pierces my heart as they were one of my late mother’s favorite artist.
Zola Taylor was such a beautiful lady with a magic smile.
I love the Platters, thanks for these videos and music.
