Taj Mahal had a role in the movie “Sounder” and I believe he played this, and I wonder if the background music was his. This was back in the 70’s I think.

Yeah, Taj Mahal ain’t no ignorant fool. I love him, remember seeing him play one of those thumb springer things on tv when I was a kid.
My pal Chris Boyer used to pick & sing at the Old Man and Famished Woman in SLC, UT, and he did this one all the time. Then I heard John Sebastian do it, Then Taj; love all versions. Do y’all know that Taj has a degree in English from Amherst? He’s studied American music intensively, and is a master interpreter.
He’s the master, LOVE this song.
